This Year's Past Races
Spring Regatta - March 12th
Part of Ventura Yacht Club’s Seasonal Series, the Spring Regatta is event number two in a bid to see who can outpace others in a closed course, windward/leeward. Monohull sailboats are invited to race a closed course (W/L) Regatta. Five races are planned each day. Two races constitute a regatta.
Lady Driver Race - April 16th
This is a random leg race featuring Lady Drivers. At least one female must be onboard, and a female must be at the helm during the race (periodic short breaks are allowed, but not during the starting sequence, while rounding marks, or while finishing). Boats can have more than one lady driver.
Wet Wednesday Series – April 12th to Sept 13th
These mid-week summer evening races are scheduled for Wednesdays between April 12 and September 13. After each race there will be a dinner and trophy presentation at Ventura Yacht Club at which all skippers, crew, and guests are welcome.
Commodore’s Classic – May 21st
One Random Leg race will be chosen from the Course Chart in the Sailing Instructions. Each entry shall have a Commodore or a Staff, Rear, or Vice Commodore as the helms-person. PHRF Area A Random Leg handicaps will be used, although PHRF membership is not required for this race. ENTRY FEE IS WAIVED for this event. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK AS COMMODORES!
Governor’s Cup (Random Leg) – June 10th
This race is open to current members of recognized yacht clubs. A Random Leg Course for each class will be chosen from the course chart in the Sailing Instructions. Most courses for this event are over 18 miles and the “Sunset Rule” does apply. Sunset on June 10 is 8:09 PM PDT. Please plan your evening activities accordingly! This event is part of the 2023 County High Point Series and the ASBCYC High Point Series. See Sailing Instructions for additional information.
JFest - July 15 - 16
Hosted for all J/boats, JFest will serve as a one-design event for the J70 and J24 classes, with the J24s sailing the regatta as their Western Regional Championships. With enough entries, other one-design fleets will be made available, but you can bet that we will have PHRF races for those designs with too few entries.
