Caregivers Sail-A-Thon – Sunday, October 20

Though not officially part of the VYC Racing Season. We would love to encourage all our racers to try and catch the Ugly Fish for a good cause.

Beginning Racer Seminar #1 – Saturday, January 27th

The VYC Beginner Racer Seminar #1 is scheduled for January 27th, 2024.  The Seminar would be for Class C family cruisers to get help with racing basics and sailing trim.  For instructions and QR Codes Click Here.

Beginning Racer Seminar #2 – Sunday, March 10th

The VYC Beginner Racer Seminar #2 is scheduled for March 10th, 2024.  The Seminar would be for Class C family cruisers to get help with racing basics and sailing trim.  For instructions and QR Codes Click Here.

Lady Driver Race – Sunday, April 14th

This is a random leg race featuring Lady Drivers.  At least one female must be onboard, and a female must be at the helm during the race (periodic short breaks are allowed, but not during the starting sequence, while rounding marks, or while finishing).  Boats can have more than one lady driver.

Commodore’s Classic – Sunday, May 19th

One Random Leg race will be chosen from the Course Chart in the Sailing Instructions.  Each entry shall have a Commodore or a Staff, Rear, or Vice Commodore as the helms-person.  PHRF Area A Random Leg handicaps will be used, although PHRF membership is not required for this race.  ENTRY FEE IS WAIVED for this event.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK AS COMMODORES!

Blue Water Series #1 – Monday, May 27th

The resurrected Blue Water Series is the oldest yacht racing event in Ventura. It will consist of 3 races returning home in conjunction with planned cruises to Santa Cruz Island. There will be only one class sailing together, with or without spinnakers. We will use the VYC-RAW 2024v5 as our ratings.

Governor’s Cup – Saturday, June 8th

This race is open to current members of recognized yacht clubs.  A Random Leg Course for each class will be chosen from the course chart in the Sailing Instructions.  Most courses for this event are over 18 miles and the “Sunset Rule” does apply.  Sunset on June 8 is 8:09 PM PDT.  Please plan your evening activities accordingly!

Blue Water Series #2 – Sunday, July 7th

J-Fest – Saturday & Sunday, July 13-14

Regatta Format.  Hosted for all J/boats.  With enough entries, other one-design fleets will be made available.

The Dog Days Regatta – Saturday & Sunday, July 20-21 (Youth and Collegiate Event)

This event is open to youth and collegiate sailors who are members of a yacht club or sailing association affiliated with the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) or a PCCSC Regular or Provisional Member School, or a current member in good standing with the U.S. Sailing organization.

Rowdy Relay – Sunday, August 18

Wet Wednesday Series Begins – April 10th to September 12th

These mid-week summer evening races are scheduled for Wednesdays between April 12 and September 13.  After each race there will be a dinner and trophy presentation at Ventura Yacht Club at which all skippers, crew, and guests are welcome.

Blue Water Series #3 – Monday, September 2nd

This a return home race from a VYC cruise to Fry’s Harbor on Santa Cruz Island. Starting around 11:00am just outside Fry’s Harbor and returning to VYC.  One fleet race together using up-dated Rating Adjustments (RAW)

The Fall Debacle – Saturday, October 12th

Our last race of our season of big boat racing.  This will be a random leg race using pre-designed courses that can be sailed in either direction! This is similar to the Three Bridges Fiasco in San Francisco Bay. We are planning to have spinnaker and non-spinnaker/RAW classes with double handed sub-class. (Maybe an ULBD class if enough interest.) Along with ORCA (Ocean Cats and Trimarans) and maybe one design, we will start and finish at Mandalay Buoy!
Then prepare for some fun, food, drink and merriment after at the Club!
